The ScrapX Window for the Combined view has four sections. Top to bottom on the left are: the Item Window including the Tool Strip, the Item Selector, and the Item Information. On the right is the Thumbnails Window. In addition there is a set of View Selector buttons.

In the Item Window the item is displayed in one of the supported types, or if there is none, a question mark and the message: "Not Displayable by ScrapX" is displayed. Scroll bars will appear when an item is too large to fit the Item Window. If the type is movie or sound the Item Window includes a control bar, or with the type sound resource and aGIF, a play button. For types sound and sound resource the Item Window displays a speaker icon that that can be used as a "handle" for drag-and-drop operations. In the Thumbnails Window movies are identified by a superimposed movie projector icon, and sounds have a speaker icon. A question mark is displayed if an item has no supported type.
A tool strip that appears at the bottom of the Item Window has a collection of tools appropriate to the item type selected. For example, if the selected type is HTML, RTF, URL, or plain text, the Text Tool Strip is displayed. The Item Selector slider and buttons allow changing the current item, and the Slideshow button starts a slideshow.
The Item Information includes:
Item: the position of the current item and the total number of items in the scrapbook.
Memo: a field that can be used to name, annotate or store keywords for a scrapbook item. The information in the Memo field also is displayed as a caption in the Thumbnail view. However, if the Memo field is empty, the contents of the Source field are displayed as the caption in the Thumbnail view. (When a ScrapIt scrapbook is imported into ScrapX the "name" information is placed in the Memo field.)
If content was dropped onto ScrapX from Safari the title of the web page is placed in the Memo field. If content consists of only text types the first 40 characters automatically are entered in the Memo field.
Type: the data types that ScrapX supports and can use to display the item. The type currently being displayed is in bold.
Size: there can be various dimensions to Size that are displayed as appropriate:
- the data size or memory requirement.
- the pixel dimensions of an image or movie when displayed at 100% resolution, and the percentage reduction if the image or movie has been reduced for display.
- the duration (playing time) of a movie or sound (but not a sound resource).
Date: the date and time an item was created and modified.
Source: the file name if the item was created by dragging a file onto ScrapX or
the web page URL if content was dragged onto ScrapX from Safari. As noted above, the Thumbnail caption is based on the Source field if the Memo field is empty.
The complete path to the file is displayed in a tooltip when the cursor is positioned over the word "Source" and the file can be found using the new Show Source in Finder command in the Source menu or the contextual menu that opens when the mouse button is pressed while the cursor is over the word "Source."
Likewise, the complete URL of the Safari page from which content was dropped is displayed in a tooltip when the cursor is positioned over the word "Source" and the URL can be opened using the new Open Source URL command in the Source menu or the contextual menu.
