ScrapX File Formats
When files or clippings in the following
formats are copied and pasted or drag-and-dropped onto a ScrapX window, new
items will be created in a supported type. Files in the:
- QuickDraw image format .pct or
.pict are displayed as type: PICT.
- Image formats .qtif (QuickTime
image) and .tif, or .tiff are displayed as type: TIFF.
- Image formats .bmp, .gif, .jpg
or .jpeg, and .png, are displayed as types: BMP,
EPS, GIF or aGIF (animated GIF), JPEG, and PNG, respectively. Images encoded
with JPEG compression, including those in the JFIF and EXIF file formats,
are displayed as type: JPEG.
- Plain text formats .txt or .text,
and xml are displayed as type: plain text.
- Hypertext format .htm or .html
are displayed as types: HTML and plain text.
- Rich text format .rtf are displayed
as types: RTF and plain text.
- Rich text with attachments format
.rtfd are displayed as types: RTFD, RTF, and plain text.
- Portable document format .pdf
are displayed as type: PDF.
- Movie formats .mov or .moov,
.movie, .mpg or .mpeg, .mp4, and .qt are displayed as type: movie unless there
is no image, in which case they are displayed as type: sound. Supported movie
formats include QuickTime VR when running under Panther or Tiger.
- Sound formats .aif or .aiff,
.au, .m4a (AAC or Advanced Audio Coding), .m4p (protected AAC), .mp2, .mp3,
.snd, and .wav are displayed as type: sound.
- Classic sound format "snd"
are displayed as type: sound resource.
Clippings in the:
- Picture clipping format .pictClipping
are displayed as the type: PICT plus the type corresponding to the format
of the original image. For example, a picture clipping created from a GIF
is displayed as the types: GIF, PICT.
If the Type Filter in the User Preferences is set to "Only One TIFF or
PICT" a single type is included: that corresponding to the format of
the original image.
- Text clippings format .textClipping
are displayed as the type: plain text, and also will include the type: RTF
if they were created from styled text.
- Sound clippings format .sndClipping
are displayed as the type: sound resource.
